Biography From the 1990ies she was deeply involved with the Hamburg Avantgarde and Music scene, 1996 to 2001 she was a member of the Hamburg based art group Akademie Isootrop along with artists Jonathan Meese, Daniel Richter, Birgit Megerle and Andre Butzer.At the same time Richter went on to study theatre directing with Jürgen Flimm at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Hamburg. Since 2001 she works as a director. In 2006 she founded the Fleet Street Theatre in Hamburg, which she ran until 2010. From 2013 to 2016 she was one of the four house directors at the Cologne National Theatre Schauspiel Köln. For her writing and staging of the play Der Fall Esra, which is based on the legal case of banning the novel Esra by the jewish-german author Maxim Biller, she was given the Rolf-Mares Theatre Award for Best Play of the Year in 2009. In recent years, Richter has worked with such digital activists as Edward Snowden and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. In 2012 premiered her piece Assassinate Assange, which was shown in Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and Vienna. Since then, the director not only visited regularly the WikiLeaks founder in London, but has engaged in panel discussions and in various print media including Der Spiegel, Monopoly, Interview Magazine, Revue Magazine for the Next Society for internet activists and hacktivists. In the season 2014/15, Richter wrote and directed the interactive Transmedia Project „Supernerds“ on the topic of digital mass surveillance, whistleblowing and digital dissidents, in collaboration with national television and radio WDR, Schauspiel Köln and the Producers Gebrueder Beetz, including a „Internet Sudden life Game“. The audiences in the theatre, on tv and internet were part of the story, they experienced examples of hacking and surveillance on their smartphones and laptops. Supernerds is seen as an unique example of Transmedia, because it allowed audiences to explore the story in several media such as internet, sudden life gaming, radio, tv and live on stage. The play was based on interviews that Richter conducted in the last three years, with whistleblowers, human rights lawyers, hackers and internet activists among them Julian Assange (Wikileaks), Daniel Ellsberg (Pentagon Papers), the NSA Whistleblowers Bill Binney, Thomas Drake, Jessely Radack. She also visited Edward Snowden in Moscow. She published a selection of the interviews in the Book „Supernerds - Conversations with heroes“ with Alexander Verlag Berlin in german and english. In 2018 she co-authored „Women, Whistleblowing, Wikileaks“ along with Sarah Harrison and Renata Avila. She staged „The three lives of Antigone“, the first play by philosopher Slavoj Zizek, opening night was on 19 october 2019 at the National Theatre HNK in Zagreb.
